OpenOffice 2.0, the free alternative to Miscosoft Office, has finally been released. After more than two years in development there is a much better installation process, new titles for the applications - Writer, Impress, Calc and Draw; a new interface, OpenDocument format, enhanced PDF export facility. OpenOffice 2.0 also includes a powerful database application that will compete with Microsoft’s popular Access database.

OpenOffice.org 2.0 is the productivity suite that individuals, governments, and corporations around the world have been expecting for the last two years. Easy to use and fluidly interoperable with every major office suite, OpenOffice.org 2.0 realises the potential of open source.

OpenOffice 2.0 was also released on a peer-to-peer network Bit Torrent.
